Jonathan Jaffe's bio

Jonathan ‘Iftarii’ Jaffe is a Montreal based professional poker player who makes his living primarily as a Heads-Up specialist. He first made his mark on the tournament poker scene with a 4th place finish for a decent $108,288 at the 2008 WSOP $10,000 Heads-Up NLHE tournament. In November 2008, Jaffe built on that success with a 2nd place finish in the Foxwoods Word Poker Finals for $670,636.

Jonathan’s primary game is Heads-Up Sit-and-Go’s where he has amassed over $800,000 in profit. He also holds the highest average profit per game in Sit-and-Go tournaments of any kind. Jaffe further cemented his reputation with a $315,000 win in 2009 when he tore through a field of the world’s best poker pros in a 25k buy-in WCOOP Heads-Up NLHE tournament.

When asked what quality most benefited him in Heads up Sit-and-Go’s, Jaffe answered,

“I’m a lot more apathetic than most. I’m okay with having a terrible day and it doesn’t bother me. I just take each game as it goes.”

Jonathan is a big proponent of living a balanced life. He splits his time between Montreal and his native Massachusetts. When he isn’t playing poker, he spends his time between playing sports and traveling. Jaffe’s earned a total of $1,145,461 in live tournaments alone, in addition to his online profits which easily exceed $1m.
