Mathew Frankland's bio

Mathew “matfrankland” Frankland comes from Teesside, United Kingdom and graduated from the University of Leeds. He has been a live poker tournament player since 2010. Frankland has achieved a good deal in his short professional poker career so far. He appeared at the Premier League V after winning a satellite into the $125,000 tournament. Frankland also made one final table appearance at the English Poker Open in London and secured second place in a side event at the 2011 EPT San Remo. His entire live tournament winnings amount to $398,627.

With a consistent performance in the last months of 2012, Frankland was rewarded with the number 1 spot in the UK & Ireland rankings and climbed to 16th place in the world, and is believed to be well on his way into the top ten.

After finishing fourth in the $1,050 Rebuy Event for a career best score of $66,130, he followed his victory up with a 10th place finish in the $10,300 SCOOP Main Event, boosting his lifetime winnings by $62,040.

“Playing poker is a brilliant opportunity, not only for the money but it’s what I want. I want to end up being a professional poker player. I don’t just want to be the guy who qualifies, I want to be one of these big guys and it’s the matter of stepping in the right direction.”

Frankland finished 3rd in the $5,428 No Limit Hold’em Main Event of the English Poker Open Series on September 11th 2010, cashing $119,409, the biggest score of his career. In July, at the 42nd WSOP held in Las Vegas in 2011, he managed to cash $54,851 in the No Limit Hold’em $10,000 World Championship. In the same year, at the 2011 EPT San Remo, he got a 2nd place in the $1,391 No Limit Hold’em Event, cashing $53,081. More recently, at the Premier Poker League V held in Vienna in 2012, he secured a 7th spot in the $125,000 Main Event taking down $65,000.

One of Frankland’s strengths is his ability to churn out solid results with great consistency, making him one of the finest players in tournament poker.
